PPL Skill Development - Achieving a PPL is a great accomplishment and ideally, skills and proficiency should continue to develop with experience. However for many reasons, this is often not the case, in fact we all have the potential to suffer from "skill fade" .

It's often said in the commercial world, that the best safety device you can fit to an aircraft is a well trained pilot. Commercial pilots attend training events every six months and there can be no doubt that this contributes to the high level of safety evident in commercial flying. Attitudes to training will vary based upon the experience. HFTS offers safety based training on your terms with no jeopardy. If you would like to benefit from high quality training in any aspect we will be happy to discuss and plan a programme for your specific needs. For example, safety data shows that the majority of accidents consistently occur in the landing phase so this is one area many pilots would benefit from developing.  (For causes of fatal accidents see the UPRT page)

Whether you simply wish to be more confident or refresh after a period of time away from flying we'd be happy to assist with anything from a single flight, to a series of flights. Typical areas may be;

• Final Approach and landing skills - Touchdown safely, accurately, consistently.

• VFR Navigation- Learn to live without sky demon!

• Emergency Handling - Understand the risk areas, utilise effective threat and error management

• Strip Flying - Understand performance limitations, identify the hazards.
